I thought I would share a little sample for you on my website. The simulator walks you step by step through a single plane balance and displays the vectors on the plot as you go.
Perfect for Exam Prep
If you are planning on taking the ISO Cat II or III vibration certification exam, you need to understand single plane balancing. As part of this, you will need to understand the balancing process through vectors and polar plots. Even if you use software to do a balance job, the software creates these plots. An educated technician will understand what the plots mean and how to interpret them.
If you are learning how to perform rotor balancing by drawing vectors on polar paper with a ruler and protractor or calculating the vectors mathematically, this free calculator will help you check your answers. If you have a little demo machine in your training room, you can use this calculator to perform single plane balancing.
Vector Math
You may also use this free vector addition calculator to learn how to add vectors. This calculator comes in handy when removing multiple balance weights from a rotor in order to replace them with a single weight. This function is referred to as “Combining Weights.” You’ll find this calculator useful in other applications that involve adding vectors.
